Company Conducts Extensive Site Work to Build
New Shaw’s and Retail Center
Farmington, Conn. – November 9, 2003 –
More than 800 steel and concrete piles are in place to support
the construction of a new Shaw’s Supermarket and adjacent
shopping center in New Fairfield, Conn. being built by Konover
Construction Corporation. The $6.4 million project consists
of two separate buildings – a 61,000 square-foot building
for Shaw’s and a 7,800 square-foot center that will
house a variety of different retailers. The project will
be complete in January 2004.
“It is unusual to reinforce a foundation with so many
piles, but this particular site required the extra support
to ensure the integrity and safety of this new shopping
center,” explained Michael Kolakowski, president and
CEO of Konover Construction. “Our team came together
to complete the foundation work and keep the project on
schedule. Once the new stores are complete and open to the
public, the residents in the New Fairfield area will be
able to enjoy more shopping selections and conveniences.”
“Shaw’s is pleased to have Konover Construction
on board to build our New Fairfield store, which is set
to open in January 2004,” said John Rowell, Shaw’s
Director of Engineering & Construction. “These
types of projects consist of many facets and challenges
once the actual building period begins. We are confident
that Konover Construction will execute the construction
phase according to plan and help Shaw’s deliver a
new and exciting shopping experience to New Fairfield customers
and those from the surrounding communities.”
