NORTH HAVEN, CT – July 15, 2004—
Construction is well underway
on the new 242,000 square-foot North Haven High School,
which is being built on the existing school property just
opposite the middle school campus. Konover Construction
Corporation, Construction Manager for the project, will
demolish the existing high school at the completion of the
new building, and construct new athletic fields in its place.
The school is planned for a September 2005 completion, with
the new athletic fields completed in spring 2006.
Designed by Kaestle Boos Architects of New Britain, CT,
the new high school will serve approximately 1,300 students
in grades 9-12. The school will feature a state-of-the-art
media center, auditorium, cafeteria, gym with locker rooms
and weight rooms, and a child-care center. Administrative
offices, classrooms, and science labs will be located in
a three-story wing of the building. Courtyards will be located
off the dining areas.
“We worked together with the town of North Haven
to help pass the referendum, giving presentations to the
town and school board,” explains Michael Kolakowski,
president and CEO of Konover Construction. “Once the
referendum passed, we went to work on more than one year
of pre-construction. We are excited to finally break ground
and start building this much-needed new school.”
