Foundation and Site Work Complete, Structural
Steel Work Begins on Retreat Avenue Project
Farmington, Conn. – February 5, 2004 –
Structural steel is being put into place at the new Retreat
Assisted Living facility in Hartford, Conn.; the state’s
first “purpose-built” affordable assisted living
complex, located across from Hartford Hospital. Konover
Construction Corporation, which is serving as general contractor
for the project, has completed all foundation and site work
and is finalizing the steel structure for the new 100-bed
facility. The $11 million, 81,000 square-foot project includes
common kitchen and dining areas in addition to living quarters
for the residents. The Retreat Assisted Living Facility,
sponsored by the Community Renewal Team, will be complete
and open to residents by December 2004.
“Our expertise as general contractor for assisted
living, and other seniors and healthcare facilities –
along with our familiarity of all the special building codes
required for these types of buildings – has helped
keep this project moving forward,” explained Michael
Kolakowski, president and CEO of Konover Construction. “We
are focusing on the exterior of this attractive new building
now so that we can complete the interior during the colder
months.”
