We view ourselves as an "owner's contractor" - an outgrowth of our founding in 1959 as the construction arm of a major Northeast developer. Simon Konover established his construction corporation when he began developing and building hotels and shopping centers throughout the Northeast and along the East Coast. Functioning as a developer's contractor, Konover Construction Corporation learned —first hand — the importance of time, budget, and quality.
While more than 95% of our work today is for third-party clients, we haven't lost the training and philosophy gained in those early years. We still view each project as if it were our own, and work hard to ensure that every project lives up to and exceeds the owner's expectations. This "owner's" philosophy is the most important reason for our great success and growth over the past twenty years from $25 million in annual volume to $300 million today.
Konover Construction has steadily diversified and grown into an organization of more than 200 associates with expertise in every facet of commercial construction. Our steadfast commitment to our clients is mirrored by our commitment to our employees. Promoting from within our ranks has always been one of our top priorities. Therefore, as we approach our 50th year of business, we are very excited to announce a change in the ownership of Konover Construction to three individuals whose combined tenure in our company exceeds half a century. Our new owners – Mr. Michael Kolakowski, President and CEO, Mr. Eric Brown, Senior Vice President of Operations, and Mr. Simon Etzel, Senior Vice President of Procurement – look forward to the continued success of our clients, our staff, and our organization.
